In the height of the pandemic, amidst another abrupt lockdown, the Fitness Industry Council of Canada held an emergency Zoom meeting for gym owners. There was an expectation that many would attend, but we were stunned: If we had been together in person we would have overflowed the conference hall – over 250 gym owners were in attendance to hear about all the actions that the FIC was taking to work with the government and get our clubs reopened.
Those actions during the pandemic were powerful. While many remember the repeated lockdowns, FIC was working behind the scenes, from province to province and at the federal level, to ensure that the voice of the Canadian fitness industry was heard.
